Obituary for Robert Lee Mullican

Robert Lee Mullican of Chickasha, Oklahoma was born October 28, 1942, in Salina, Kansas to Dorothy Lee Liston Mullican and Charles L. Mullican.
He married Cynthia Ann Gilder in 1966, which union led to the Robert’s only child, George Robert Mullican. In 1986, Robert married Elizabeth Ann (Frazier) Nalley. Together, they made their home on acreage outside of Chickasha, Oklahoma. He died at home on October 18, 2018. He was 75 years of age.
Mr. Mullican was an all-star fullback at Muskogee Central High School and went on to play at the college level for Connors State College. Robert went onto serve his country in the U.S.A.F. during the Vietnam War. After serving his country, he worked as an airframe mechanic and went to night school where obtained his bachelor’s degree in Business Management
Robert remained in the aviation field throughout his life. He was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for 38 years. Robert enjoyed a rewarding career, beginning as an aircraft mechanic and retiring as the Deputy Director of Avionics in Oklahoma City. At the time of his retirement, he had obtained the civil service grade of GS 15, which recognized his level of achievement in his chosen field.
He retired from the FAA in 2008 so he could travel with Ann on her business and professional trips. He was a life time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a member of Church of Christ. Mr. Mullican was proud of his service to the FAA and proud of his son becoming an attorney. He took to retirement well, earning his pilot’s license, spending time at his cabin on Lake Tenkiller, and visiting with friends and family alike.
His survived by his loving wife Elizabeth Ann Frazier Nalley of Chickasha, OK; son, George Robert Mullican and wife Sue, and two grandsons, Jordan and Grant Mullican all of Jenks, OK. Robert was born into a large family and is also survived by his four brothers (in order of age): Richard Dale Mullican and wife Karen of Muskogee, OK; Leon C. Mullican and wife Barbara of Muskogee, OK, Jerry Wanye Mullican of Muskogee, OK; Paul Raymond Mullican and Lori of Muskogee, OK. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins and aunts, too many to name here.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary, and first wife; Cindy Gilder Mullican.
Service will be Friday, October 26, 2018 at the Church of Christ, Council Hill, OK at 11:00 a.m., with burial at Council Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Viewing will be Thursday, October 25, 2018, 10 am to 8 pm at the funeral home.
